After the assassination of Charlie Kirk, investigators discovered an unfired bullet with the inscription “O bella ciao, bella Ciao, ciao ciao.” This phrase, taken from an Italian folk song, is historically linked to communist movements and is now also used by various Antifa groups worldwide. So why is a federal NDP candidate walking out to this folk song less than two months after Kirk’s assassination?
The magnitude of this cannot be understated. The chorus from this song was inscribed on the side of a bullet found at the crime scene of the assassination of Conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, and considering this was not a long time ago, one has to ask – why in the hell is an NDP candidate using the song as his walkout music at a debate?
We reached out to Avi Lewis twice for this article, but received no response to our requests for comment.

Perhaps Canadians shouldn’t be surprised that the person who may become the leader of the Federal NDP will make Jagmeet Singh look like a moderate. You see, Mr. Lewis is advocating for policies that are so socialist they make Singh look reasonable in contrast.
The NDP leadership hopeful wants publicly owned grocery stores. Apparently, he doesn’t understand that the margins in grocery stores are paper-thin and that the private industry does a far more efficient job of running things than the government ever has. Seriously, with how inefficient and bloated our government is, do you really want them running your local grocery store?
For instance, according to Dalhousie University, Loblaws reported a profit margin of 3.7 percent, Sobeys 2.7 percent, and Metro 4.5 percent. Put another way, if the government were extremely efficient and could eliminate all profits while maintaining everything we expect of a grocery store visit, grocery prices would only fall 2.7-4.5 percent, depending on the grocery chain you frequent. Don’t worry, though; the government having control over private industry has never historically led to bad outcomes (intense sarcasm).
Avi has also advocated for rent controls. This policy sounds good in theory; however, it primarily ensures that there is no profit incentive for developers to produce more units, which ultimately leads to fewer units being built and a lack of incentives for landlords to maintain the units already rented. You can watch the video of Harvard-educated Thomas Sowell explaining why rent control is a bad idea below.
In closing, this should be a story discussed by all of our legacy media in Canada, as it seems that Avi Lewis is signalling to the extreme factions of Canada’s far left that he supports their position.
At a minimum, this question should be raised. However, legacy media, which generally leans left in Canada, shows little interest in addressing left-wing extremism in Canadian politics—even though there are numerous examples they could examine.
