CBC Uses Taxpayer Funding to Promote Antifa Comic Book

What is one of the “best Canadian comics” of 2025, according to the taxpayer-funded CBC – well, none other than “The Antifa Comic Book!”

Amid ongoing Canada-USA trade disputes, the CBC promoted the Antifa comic book, despite the organization being listed as a domestic terrorist group in the United States at that time. This editorial decision raises serious questions about CBC’s priorities and judgment in its recommendations.

To clarify, the choice of the CBC to promote the Antifa comic book came after Trump had listed them as a domestic terrorist organization on September 22, 2025, as the article by the CBC was published on December 16th of 2025. Given the timing, it seems the CBC was promoting the book to boost sales before Christmas.

Diverge Media has been investigating Antifa for a forthcoming documentary, “What Is A Fascist?” and our findings have raised serious concerns. Given what we have uncovered, we question why the CBC would choose to promote Antifa-related content.

Through the course of our research, we documented how the Anti-Hate Network, a “hate watch organization” that has received taxpayer funding in the past, was linking to an Antifa website (Montreal Antifa) that brought visitors to an ecosystem of other linked websites that advocated for radical violence and revolution. Sometimes the radical ideas were in the name of communism and sometimes in the name of anarchy, but almost always overlapping with the modern themes of “justice” taught in today’s educational institutions.

One of these linked websites provided to readers by Montreal Antifa is a link that calls for political assassinations to become more normalized. It was titled “Assassination as an Anarchist Tactic,” and the opening line read “This is a raw, underdeveloped reflection on why political assassinations of CEOs, politicians, slumlords, etc., should happen more often.” To reiterate, the Montreal Antifa website that provided the link to this article is listed as a “resource” by the Anti-Hate Network.

Think of it, the Anti-Hate Network is listing Montreal Antifa as a “Resource” on their “40 Ways to Fight the Far-right” handbook. The Canadian government has given the Anti-Hate Network hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars as a “legitimate” source to fight hate. Meanwhile, the organization links to Montreal Antifa’s website, which links to a large swathe of Antifa supportive websites, which include one telling readers that assassination needs to “happen more often.”

From The Anti-Hate Networks “40 Ways to Fight the Far-right” handbook.

We’ve reached out a number of times to the Anti-Hate network regarding this problematic linking (among other things), and the only response we’ve received thus far was the following.

“The Canadian Anti-Hate Network does not and has never funded, supported, or endorsed violence or criminality. It is a lie and defamatory to suggest that we have.”

From The Canadian Anti-Hate Network to Diverge Media

We aren’t suggesting that the Anti-Hate Network is funding, supporting or endorsing violence or criminality; however, we are pointing out that the Anti-Hate Network is linking to the Montreal Antifa website, which brings readers to an ecosystem of links that is highly problematic for any organization to link to.

Here are some quotes from other articles we found through the links provided to us by following the resources provided by the Anti-Hate Network.

Break up paving stones to throw at police?

“Coming prepared with projectiles, or having the means to break up paving stones etc in order to provide them for those present would be advantageous as well. We also need to have the numbers to be able to act as a distinct group, to deal with tear gas, and to calmly resist the riot cops.” – https://mtlcounterinfo.org/rioting-against-the-curfew/

“Furthermore, we would not criticize any comrades who did decide to initiate violence against members of the far right or to destroy their property, which in many cases would simply be preemptory self-defense, in any case.” – https://itsgoingdown.org/interview-with-montreal-antifascists-on-fighting-in-a-new-era/

Another website listed as an “allied” site by Montreal Antifa included SubMedia, which has a large variety of anti-police and pro-violence merch for you to purchase. Get an ACAB hat (All Cops Are Bastards) or get a Burning Cop Car hoodie, and then to complete the collection, you could get a nice hoodie of a black block individual throwing a Molotov cocktail at cops. Oh, and don’t forget to check out their “Burning Cop Car” podcast!

Imagine a right-wing organization that had been given hundreds of thousands of dollars by a Conservative government, openly linking to a “resource” that called for political assassinations and violence against police and people they disagreed with politically. Canadians of all political stripes would rightfully call them out for supporting extreme ideology and shame them at the same time – so why the double standard?
