According to the Hill, New York City will “require proof of vaccination for workers and customers who want to participate in indoor activities. This includes dining in restaurants, working out in gyms and attending theatre performances,” Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) told reporters.

The Mayor has called it the “key to NYC pass.” Mayor Bill De Blasio (D) told reporters that when they hear the words “the key to New York City” he wants them to imagine that “because someone’s vaccinated they can do all the amazing things that are available in this city.” He then describes New York as a “miraculous place literally full of wonders” and said that “if you’re vaccinated all of that is going to open up to ya. You’ll have the key, you can open the door but if you’re unvaccinated unfortunately you will not being able to participate in many things.” Mayor de Blasio said that “It’s time for people to see vaccination as literally necessary to living a good and full and healthy life.”

“The key to NYC pass will be a first in the nation approach,” the Mayor told reporters. It will only be made possible by “issuing a mayoral executive order and a health commissioner’s order” which the Mayor says are “legal tools necessary to implement this approach.” The NYC pass or vaccine passport “will require vaccination for workers and customers in indoor dining establishments, in indoor fitness facilities and in indoor entertainment facilities.”

The mayor told reporters that “This is going to be a requirement. The only way to patronize these establishments indoors will be if you’re vaccinated – at least one dose. The same for folks in terms of work – they’ll need at least one dose. “Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) says this “is crucial because we know that this will encourage a lot more vaccination.” In fact, the mayor says that the city has “seen it already” with the “impact of the mandate being put into place for city workers” which has started to move people towards vaccination. Not surprising really when you take away the ability for someone to feed themselves that they may subject themselves to a “vaccine” still under emergency approval.

Mayor de Blasio (D) told reporters that “The goal here is to convince everyone that this is the time – if we’re gonna stop the Delta variant the time is now! And that means getting vaccinated right now.”

The NYC pass will be phased in over the coming weeks. The final details of the policy will be implemented in the week of August 16th. They will then spend most of a month “educating people” and making sure everyone “understands” the new approach. The policy is set to begin being enforced by September 13th, 2021.

The city will then begin “inspections and enforcement” once the passport comes into effect. There is no need to imagine a “show me your papers” society – Bill de Blasio is bringing it to New York. Bill de Blasio says he knows that “people are going to get a really clear message. If you want to participate in our society fully then you got to get vaccinated. You got to get vaccinated – It’s time. All the answers, all the information is out there. You’ve seen over 160 million Americans get vaccinated safely – you’ve seen it make the difference.”

Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) concluded the press conference by saying “The key to NYC pass, this is an easy approach because to confirm vaccination all you need is your vaccination card or the NYC Covid safe app or the Excelsior app from the state – any of those will do. So it’s simple, just show it and you’re in.”
