Stratford, Ont. resident, Jason Cook, had his cancer screening cancelled — all in the name of COVID-19.
“It seems to be the only thing in this province that matters is COVID-19 and it’s disgusting!”

“I was supposed to have my test for thyroid cancer and it was cancelled. It seems to be the only thing in this province that matters is COVID-19 and it’s disgusting,” Cook said at a Stratford ‘No More Lockdowns’ protest on Sunday, April 25.
Cook has a 2.8″ nodule in his thyroid, along with other medical issues and he says the healthcare system in Ontario has “grossly let [him] down.”
In November, he was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called “Ankylosing spondylitis” (AS) which is a type of arthritis in which there is a long-term inflammation of the joints of the spine. Typically the joints where the spine joins the pelvis are also affected. Other joints such as the shoulders or hips are occasionally involved.
For Cook, it has caused his neck to permanently fuse and it means he has next to no motion in his neck.
“It attacks your facet joints and it has caused my neck to permanently fuse. The treatment for it is an injection.”
He has decided to risk it all and speak out against Ontario’s COVID restrictions.
“Because of these issues, I have chosen to put my life on the line and stand up,” said Cook.
“I have to now sit here and wait for Doug Ford to decide when he’s going to book my cancer appointment. Why?”

Cook also said because of his autoimmune disease, he gets sicker when he’s not active. He used to go to Crunch Fitness in Stratford before the rolling lockdowns kept closing its doors.
“People don’t understand this — but I require gym equipment to treat myself. And because I can’t get that treatment in my gym … my condition is now getting worse. My neck is fused.”
“I’ve had enough and I’ve decided to take a stand for everyone that is here today. For our rights, freedoms, our healthcare system, our children, our education system — it is all corrupt. The system is broken and we need to fix it now.”
