Vladislav Sobolev: “Evil can spread wide and fast when good people do nothing.” | Ottawa Freedom Protest

OTTAWA — On Saturday, August 29, 2020 — all around the world, large crowds gathered in protest of their government’s corruption and overreach during the COVID era.

More than 10,000 patriotic Canadians banded together on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ont., to show patriotism for Canada and anger towards their government’s blatant corruption. One of the keynote speakers of the day was Vladislav Sobolev.

Sobolev is the founder of “Hugs Over Masks,” an organization who is “in pursuit of restoring our civil liberties, democracy, and way of life during these unprecedented times,” states their website.

Sobolev spoke of two times where he was denied service for not wearing a mandated mask. Sobolev said he has a medical exemption which allows him to not wear a face covering in public places where they are mandated.

He first spoke of his time on a flight to Vancouver, where he was headed to further build his Hugs Over Masks movement.

“I have a real medical exemption — I do not wear the mask — and I went on a plane not wearing a mask. And unfortunately, long story short, I was asked to leave the plane, otherwise I would be taken out of the plane forcefully,” Sobolev said.

He said it was no problem and he got off his flight, obtained a medical exemption and flew out on another flight.

“On the way back, they tried to discredit my medical note! They take any opportunity they can — even if you have a valid medical reason for not wearing a mask,” he continued.

The second occasion, was just four days ago, on August 27 at a Shoppers Drug Mart.

“They refused to give me the service, I have a video, you can watch it. What I’m trying to say is, we have to take action, we have to draw the line. We are drawing the line, enough is enough and we have to take the action to protect our rights and freedoms,” said Sobolev.

He said the reason why he brought these two points up in his speech is because of history.

“No one else spoke for my side in those two incidents — no one. Not on the plane and not in the Shoppers Drug Mart as I was using the postal service. Not a single person said ‘Why is this happening?'”

No one questioned what was happening even though Sobolev has a real medical exemption.

“This is what we all have to understand … history is full of examples, the only time evil can spread wide and fast (is) when good people do nothing!,” he shouted.

“That’s the only time evil has a chance to win that battle. When good people do nothing — and that’s why the message is paramount to what we do. Every single day we have to take action.”

“You have to do your best everyday — take action, stand in your right, protect your right — otherwise they’ll take away your rights.”
