DEREK SLOAN: “If they do not change course, we cannot forgive and forget come this next election.”

At a ‘No More Lockdowns’ event on Saturday, Derek Sloan, MP for Hastings-Lennox & Addington spoke on current politicians and their actions during the lockdowns.

The event was called the ‘Canada Freedom Parade’ which stretched from Tillsonburg to Norwich, Ont. A total of roughly 33 kilometres of traffic was backed up along the route. While participants of the parade were arriving in Norwich at the community centre, many were still leaving the Zehrs parking lot in Tillsonburg.

“We might forgive you [Doug].”

Sloan spoke on Doug Ford, saying he could forgive him today if he changed course.

“Our politicians have failed us … I wanna to speak from the heart. If Doug Ford ever listens to this or hears this clip. My impression and maybe I’m wrong — but my impression is that Doug Ford was given all this data and he was given all this stuff and he was just overwhelmed. He didn’t know what to make of it. He went down a certain path and it’s hard to admit that you’re wrong and it’s hard to turn back,” said Sloan.

“So if Doug Ford hears this, I just wanna say listen, Doug, it’s never to late. It’s never too late and if you want to open up tomorrow — we’ll let you. We’ll be happy. We’ll cheer for you. We might even —maybe — we might forgive you.”

“We cannot forgive and forget”

“If they do not change course, we cannot forgive and forget — come this next election.”

Derek Sloan, MP for Hastings-Lennox & Addington

“If your local politician was not speaking out, was not putting his neck on the line — then he doesn’t deserve your vote, whoever it is,” he said.

“I was born in Simcoe. I haven’t forgotten where I come from. You guys haven’t forgotten who we are. Canada is the best country in the world. It’s filled with patriots — it’s filled with hard working Canadians that usually trust their government. We’re usually too busy working to worry about what they’re doing.”

“But now the time has come where the government is shutting down businesses. The government is shutting down churches. The government is telling us where we can go, who we can see, who we can talk to, where we can play — no more.”

“We live in a culture that is governed by people who believe in death.”

Derek Sloan, MP for Hastings-Lennox & Addington

“All throughout this pandemic you could get an abortion — anywhere, anytime. If you wanted to seek assisted suicide — you could get that, anywhere! But you wanna live a little bit? You wanna go to the play park? You wanna go to church? You wanna keep your business open — to feed your family?”

“No, you can’t do that, but I want you to live. It’s okay if you die — they just don’t want you to live.”

Derek Sloan, MP for Hastings-Lennox & Addington

“Rural Canadians know how to live. We’re hard-working, we’re honest, we’re industrious. We have a lot of patience — but the days for patience are over. We’ve had enough. No more!”
